Innovative Technology Aims for Radical Cure of Cancer

July 19, 2024 - Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. (President: Satoru Yamamoto) and a research group led by Professor Hirofumi Yamamoto of Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine announced today that they will promote joint research aimed at developing new treatments for cancer. The research aims to clarify the mechanism of activation of cancer cells by utilizing a "cancer cell adsorption kit" that uses a special polymer developed by Sumitomo Rubber.

With conventional centrifugal separation methods, it was difficult to completely separate cancer cells from blood cells, limiting the selection of more precise treatment methods.
